No matter how skilled, gifted, or passionate you are, if you don’t show up consistently, success will remain a dream. This truth became clearer to me when I worked as a sales representative at a popular battery plaza in Nnewi after my secondary school education.

He ran one of the best battery shops in the entire town, well-known for selling durable and affordable batteries for tricycles, cars, and heavy trucks. Yet, he didn’t start at the top.

He began as an apprentice for six years. When he was eventually settled by his boss, it wasn’t with a huge capital — just an average amount, enough to survive. He started his journey by buying original batteries from wholesalers and reselling them with very little profit.

But here’s what set him apart:

• He was consistent — day in, day out.

One day, an importer who had been watching him closely approached him.

My Boss: “I’m fine, thank you sir.”

Importer: “I have newly imported some special quality batteries. I want you to be my major marketer. I know you don’t have the capital yet, so here’s my offer: come to my warehouse, pick up any quantity you want on credit. Sell them, and pay me back gradually.”

This moment transformed his life.

He started selling on credit and paying the importer back slowly. Within three years, he had saved enough money to import his own brand of quality batteries.

What I Learned: Sincerity + Consistency = Elevation

From his story, I learned that:

• Everyone has to start somewhere.

• You don’t need millions to begin; you just need consistency.

• People are watching you, even when you don’t realize it.

You can still start something today. Here’s one simple idea: Drop shipping.

• No capital needed.

• Join wholesale groups.

• Pick items, post them on social media (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok).

• When someone places an order, collect payment, subtract your profit, and send the balance to the wholesaler.

Do this consistently, and you’ll start earning little by little — and eventually, big by big.
